The body of a newly-born female child was found near the wall dustbins at the entrance to 109-119 Gildarts Gardens near Vauxhall Road in Liverpool on Tuesday 30 August 1955.

It was found by a woman that had lived at 34 Gildarts Gardens.

The police were informed by a man that lived at 5 Dulas Road in Kirkby at about 6.30am that the body had been found and when they went to see they found the body wrapped up in an eiderdown, a dirty white bedsheet and a woman's cardigan.
