Baby

The body of a newly-born child was found on the railway line near Heysham Golf Course.

It was thought that it had been thrown out of a London to Heysham boat train.

The body was found by a ganger who worked for British Railways on the railway line near the golf course on the Saturday morning, 10 December 1955 whilst he was making a routine inspection of the line. When the police were informed they made a further search of the line and found a piece of brown paper which it was thought the child had been wrapped up in.
