Daniel King was shot at his home in Medina Road, Ditton in the early hours of 17 October 2008 as he slept with a .38 revolver beside him.
He had been shot four times in the early hours of the morning.
His cause of death was given as multiple gunshot wounds and it was agreed that his wounds could not have been self-inflicted or the result of multiple accidental discharges.
Police said that they were looking for a Peugeot 207 Cabriolet Coupe car. They said that they didn't know what colour it was but that it wasn't white. They also said that it was possibly stolen. They said that they were interested in two Peugeot 207 Cabriolet Coupe cars. One was stolen in Lambeth and found burnt out in Croydon 24 hours after the murder and the other Peugeot 207 Cabriolet Coupe car was stolen in Dartford but was never found.
CCTV evidence showed people leaving the area of his house immediately after his murder and getting into a car.
A man was arrested but no one was charged.
The police said that they were interested in learning more about an earlier incident in November 2006 when the lounge window of Daniel King's house was shot out. The police said they could not say whether the two incidents were related but thought that it might help them develop some leads.
When Daniel King was shot, his four grandchildren were asleep in the room next to him.
Daniel King had been unemployed. He had also been known as Shep.
