Edward Williams

Age: 35

Sex: male

Date: 24 Sep 1956

Place: Maudlam, Port Talbot

Edward Williams was found in a village street near Port Talbot with head injuries.

He was found by three cyclists who had been out on a night fishing trip to Kenfig moors lying in the centre of the road at Maudlam.

The police said, 'He had severe head injuries. We want to contact the driver of a car which may have passed the spot at the relevant time'.

A broadcast was made by the BBC appealing for information that might prove helpful and a woman came forward to say that she had spoken to him shortly before his death, but the police said that they had still been unable to account for the last 45 minutes of his life.

He had lived in Waterhall Road, Kenfig Hill and had been a Ministry of Supply labourer at Bridgend Trading Estate. He had lived in the council house home of his brother.

His brother said, 'We are quit unable to account for what happened. I only know that Edward had been drinking at the Angel Inn, Maudlam and that apparently he was walking home when he was killed'.
