Jamie Simmons

Age: 29

Sex: male

Date: 4 May 2020

Place: Wells House, Cambridge Crescent, Shepway, Maidstone

Jamie Simmons was found dead at a flat in Wells House, Cambridge Crescent, Maidstone on 4 May 2020.

A man was tried for his murder but acquitted. He said that it had been another man that had stabbed him.

They were former friends.

They had been at a flat in Wells House on 4 May 2020 when they had a row.

Jamie Simmons's had had a row with a third man at the flat over a comment his partner had made. The third man then told Jamie Simmons to take care of his children whilst he 'took care' of his partner.

It was said then that the man tried then grabbed the steak knife and shouted to Jamie Simmons, 'Get the **** out or I will stab you!', and that Jamie Simmons's partner had tried to shield him during which she received two superficial cuts to her arm.

Jamie Simmons's partner said that she also saw the man on trial holding the knife in his right hand and 'making jabbing motions' and that whilst she was ushering Jamie Simmons out of the door she saw a red stain on his chest and realised he had been stabbed twice.

The court heard that a neighbour who heard the argument  then started to record the events, which included Jamie Simmons saying that it had been the man that was tried that had stabbed him. Jamie Simmons was heard to say, 'you mother of----, why have you got to get involved?'.

It was also heard that shortly before he died, fifteen minutes later, Jamie Simmons said, 'He (the man tried) stabbed me. Why would he do that? Why would he do that?'.

However, the man tried said that it had been the third man that had stabbed Jamie Simmons.

The third man denied having stabbed Jamie Simmons.

The acquittal of the man tried at the trial was described as 'sensational'.
