Michal Makarski was killed at his home.
His lodger was charged with his murder for but died from a heart attack on the morning of the trial 27 minutes before he was due to appear. Artificial respiration was applied in an effort to revive him but without success. When the judge at the trial was informed he addressed the court and said, 'I have to tell you that the accused has died within the last half-hour from coronary thrombosis'.
Michal Makarski was the man's landlord. The man was a 54-year-old Polish labourer.
The Polish labourer was accused of having murdered Michal Makarski at his home in King's Avenue, Old Tafford between 23 November and 24 November 1957.
It was alleged that he had hit him with a hammer following a row.
