Marc Allen was run over outside his home on 29 December 2019 at about 3am and died a month later on 29 January 2020.
A 27-year-old man was arrested in February 2020 in the Tower Hamlets area on suspicion of murder and burglary but there were no further developments.
It was thought that Marc Allen had tried to stop a thief from stealing his car from his drive and that the thief then deliberately drove into him, sending him over the top of the car. The police said that they thought that the thief had already been in Marc Allen's car when Marc Allen came out and that he had then driven forward into him. The thief then drove off with the car.
Marc Allen suffered serious head injuries. He was taken to King's College Hospital where he was put into a coma.
The car had been a grey Mercedes GLA and was later found in the Tower Hamlets area, eleven miles away, on 31 December 2019. The police also thought that the car had been left near to Bronze Age Way in Erith for a couple of hours after the incident.
