Jeffrey Wegbe

Jeffrey Wegbe was shot in the doorway to his home in Hansel Road, Kilburn on 12 August 2020 at 2.20am.

He had been chased by a Silver Jaguar XF Estate car beforehand and was then shot in the chest four times with two separate firearms.

The silver Jaguar had been seen circling the area shortly before the murder. Jeffrey Wegbe had been outside in the street when the car came by after which the occupants got out and chased him on foot to his house on the Chase House development where they shot him as he was going through his door.

He died at the scene.

The men were said to have left the scene in the same car which was driven by a third person that had been waiting for them with the headlights on. The car was said to have left along Kilburn Park Road, it being noted that there was only one entrance to the estate.

A witness that saw the flash of the final shot said that they saw two young men dressed in black wearing hoodies at Jeffrey Wegbe's door.

A neighbour said they heard about ten gunshots. They said, 'It was so loud that we were afraid to go outside to have a look, we wanted to be safe and waited for the police to arrive 20 minutes later. It looked like it was a flat on the ground floor, police were investigating outside and inside'.

Two men were arrested in September 2021, however, no charges were brought.

His inquest, which was held on Friday 18 February 2022 recorded his death as an unlawful killing.

Jeffrey Wegbe was noted for having changed his name to Gucci, which had been his favourite brand.
