James Patrick Henriksen

Age: 37

Sex: male

Date: 24 Apr 1992

Place: Merseyside

James Patrick Henriksen died following a fight on Wednesday 22 April 1992. He died two days later on 24 April 1992.

A 22-year-old man was charged with his murder but later acquitted after it was heard that there had been delays in taking blood samples from James Henriksen at the hospital, making the ones that were taken, a day after his admission, worthless. It was also heard that James Henriksen had been in a fight with his own brother minutes before the fight with the man on trial.

The court heard that James Henriksen had been admitted to the hospital on 22 April but that blood samples were not taken until 23 April. He died on 24 April 1992.

The blood samples were required to determine drug and alcohol levels, but the delay in taking them made them worthless.

It was heard that James Henriksen had a history of drug and alcohol abuse and that it had been essential to establish other contributory factors to his death.

The 22-year-old man was discharged by the Stipendiary Magistrate after hearing the submission of the defence on the matters.

James Henriksen had been of no fixed abode.
