Gary Watkinson

Age: 37

Sex: male

Date: 23 Dec 2000

Place: Kremlin Drive, Tuebrook, Merseyside

Gary Watkinson died following a fire at a flat after it was attacked with a petrol bomb.

His flat was attacked in the early hours of 25 November 2000, around 6am. He was taken to hospital where  he was put into a coma and later died on 23 December 2000.

He had lived with his partner in a ground floor flat in Kremlin Drive, Tuebrook. His partner, Natalie Kelly, survived the attack, however, she died a year later from head injuries, and the police thought she may have also been murdered. She was 22-years-old when she died.

It was stated that the fire had been so intense that it had taken investigators almost two months to establish that it had been caused by a petrol bomb.

Several arrests were made at the time, but no one was charged.

The police said they thought it had been a targeted attack.

His sister said she thought that there were a lot of people who knew who murdered Gary Watkinson.

Natalie Kelly had had a 5-year-old daughter at the time of her death. She was found at a property in Guelph Street, Kensington, around 11am on 22 October 2001 and taken to the Royal Liverpool hospital where she died from brain haemorrhage. The pathologist said that he thought her injury had been caused by a blow to the head.

However, the police said they thought that it was unlikely that her death had been connected with Gary Watkinson's death.
