Age: 18

Sex: male

Date: 25 Jul 2018

Place: Denmark Road, Camberwell, London

Latwaan Griffiths was stabbed five times.

It was thought that he had been stabbed in the area of Elmore House and Minet Road and then taken by moped and dumped in Denmark Road, Camberwell near to King's College Hospital about a mile away. An image of the moped driver that dumped Latwaan Griffiths in the street was later released by the police.

He was found at about 6.25pm on 25 July 2018. He was taken to hospital but died a few hours later shortly after midnight at 12.22am.

He had five stab wounds, two of which were incised wounds to the chest.

Latwaan Griffiths had been seen slumped on the back of the moped and the driver stopped and dumped him, shouting, 'help, he's been stabbed', after which he rode off. A witness said that Latwaan Griffiths had been on the back of the scooter and that the driver had been shouting, 'hold on, hold on', before dumping him in the street. They had both been wearing crash-helmets.

The police were called to Denmark Road at about 6.55pm.

Three people were arrested on suspicion of his murder.

  • 17-year-old boy from Kent, arrested 26 July 2018.
  • Man A, arrested 30 July 2018.
  • Man B, arrested 30 July 2018.

Latwaan Griffiths was a drill rap artist. He was known as 'Splash Addict' and 'SA Latz'. He had been a member of the Harlem Spartans music collective and it was thought that he had been targeted by a rival gang after he had goaded them through drill rap that he had been involved with. Gangs suspected of having been involved with his murder included the 410, which was based in Brixton, and the Zone 2, which was based in Peckham. It was noted that Latwaan Griffiths had appeared in a drill rap video that mocked the 410 gang.

It was noted that his street name 'Splash Addict' referred to stabbing people and splashing them with their own blood.

It was reported that Latwaan Griffiths had been 100% emersed in the South London gang culture but that his fame as an online rapper meant that he could have gone mainstream.

Latwaan Griffiths had previously been arrested for offences including possessing a machete and a knife and robbing a rival gang member. He had been in a gang in Kennington, South-East London and most of the offences that he had been involved with took place around the Kennington Park Estate which was noted for being used as a backdrop for videos made by the Harlem Spartans.
