The body of a newly-born infant was found lying in the snow near the Preston highway by some workmen engaged at the Corporation Waterworks.
The body was said to have been about a fortnight old.
It was thought that it might have been dumped there by a person tramping towards or from Preston.
The area that the child was found was said to have been in the Sharples and Belmont districts.
An open verdict was returned.
