Man

A man died following a brawl at a bedsit in Mansell Road, Small Heath.

The police were called to the property at about 7.10pm on Tuesday 30 January 2018 and the man was pronounced dead at the scene at 8.45pm.

It was said that he had been beaten to death.

A 41-year-old man was arrested but nothing more is known about the investigation although at the time the police said that they were not looking for anyone else.

A Detective Chief Inspector said, 'Clearly we are at an early stage of the enquiry, but we understand there was a fight inside the address that led to a man suffering fatal injuries. We have identified some significant witnesses and are conducting quick-time enquiries, but we are keen to speak to anyone who was in the area at the time and heard a disturbance or perhaps someone running from the scene'.

The property was at the Coventry Road end of Mansel Road and was described as a bedsit.
