Parts of a dismembered baby were found on the deck of the motor vessel Ellora at Wallsend on Monday 4 November 1958 with more parts found on 6 November 1958 a little further downstream.
The right leg of the child was found on board the recently-launched tanker Ellora which was lying in a Wallsend slipway by a workman on Monday 4 November 1958.
The torso of the child was later found on 6 November 1958 by a labourer that had lived in Redburn View, North Shields on the foreshore at Clelands (Successors) Ltd, Willington Quay, about 150 yards downstream from where the Ellora was lying and recovered from the water by the River Tyne Police.
A post mortem at Harton General Hospital in South Shields on 7 November 1958 established a link between the leg and the body.
