Hanifan Bibi died after jumping out of a window to escape a fire that was started deliberatly at her top floor flat at 30 Sycamore Walk, Blackburn, West Lothian in November 1983.

She had been asleep at the time in the flat with her son and daughter.

However, Hanifan Bibi died.

Folowing an investigation the fire brigade determined that the fire had been started just inside the front door by someone putting lit paper through the letterbox.

THe police found that there had been a number of similar attacks in the area that were thought to be the acts of local teenagers. However, no one was arrested.
