Angus Boulton

Age: 18

Sex: male

Date: 15 Oct 1959

Place: Blackpool Road, Peel, Kirkham, Lancashire

Angus Boulton died after he drove into the back of a stationery fire engine on his motorcycle.

It was not known how he had come to crash into the back of the fire engine and an open verdict was returned.

It was heard that the fire engine had been stationery and that the road was straight and that Angus Boulton would have had been able to see it for 100 yards before the collision.

The fire engine had been parked in the road to deal with a fire in a rubbish tip in a wood at Peel near Kirkham and was described as being 7ft 6in wide and 20ft long and to have had two beacons flashing on the top of it at the time.

The police said that there was nothing wrong with his motorcycle that would have accounted for the accident.

He died from a fractured skull.

He had lived at 81 Dowbridge in Kirkham.

It was reported that his death brought the death toll on the main Blackpool to Preston road near Kirkham during the 1959 Blackpool illuminations to five.
