Natalie Jenkins

Age: 32

Sex: female

Date: 10 Dec 2019

Place: Park Road South, Middlesbrough

Natalie Jenkins disappeared in December 2019.

The police later said that they thought that she had been murdered. There had been no news of her and her body has not been found.

A 40-year-old man and a 66-year-old man were arrested on suspicion of her murder but released with no further action. A third 65-year-old woman was also arrested on suspicion of perverting the course of justice.

Natalie Jenkins was last seen in Middlesbrough in CCTV footage at 11.38pm on Tuesday 10 December 2019 walking towards Albert Park along Park Road South and it was thought that she had still been in that area into the early hours of the following morning.

She had walked into Middlesbrough from Thornaby that night. She had lived in Westbury Street in Thornaby.

She had been wearing a white hat.

She was described as:

  • 32 years old.
  • White.
  • Very slim.
  • 5ft 5ins tall.
  • Fair complexion.
  • Straight brown hair.
  • Hazel eyes.
  • Missing front tooth.
  • Tattoo saying SWANN on her neck and another on her wrist saying SWANNY.

She had been seen earlier that day at about 7.55pm walking along Parliament Road and also at 8.13pm in Linthorpe Road.

The police released CCTV footage of two men who they were interested in speaking to over the matter. They were seen walking along Park Road South at about 2am on 11 December 2019 and the police thought that they might have seen Natalie Jenkins somewhere around the Albert Park.

They were seen to meet up and walk off together. The first man was seen walking along Albert Park towards Linthorpe Road after which the other man was seen to appear from Westminster Road and grab a bike after which they met in the middle of the road and walked off together towards Linthorpe Road.

Natalie Jenkins was described as a vulnerable woman and known to be a drug user. The police said that it was extremely unusual for her to not be in touch with her family, especially with Christmas coming up.

The police said that they had spoken to over 1,000 people, taken almost 700 statements and recovered 1,130 items of evidence. They said that they had also undertaken almost 4,000 actions in the investigation. In July 2020 the police searched 1,300 front and back gardens in the Middlesbrough area for clues using police dogs, with properties in ten streets being the main focus.

The police made what were described as long term searches in Albert Park and the grounds of Acklam Steelworks Club in April and May 2020.

Albert Park was a 30-hectare site and the search included an underwater search using a dive team in the lake and waterways. The police said that they had received certain information that led them to focus on searching the park, but it was not said what that was.

The police also searched wasteland at the Acklam Steelworks club but did not say why.

The 66-year-old man was arrested in May 2020 and a property in Park Road South searched.

However, the police said that they believed that there were more people that could come forward and help with the investigation.

Natalie Jenkins had been reported missing on 15 December 2019 and the first police appeal for help was made on 18 December 2019. On 30 January 2020 the police said that they were treating her disappearance as a murder.

It was noted that Natalie Jenkins was one of three children and that they had all died. Her eldest brother died after falling from a balcony at his home in 2004 at the age of 24 whilst her younger brother died from diabetic ketoacidosis in August 2021 aged 38.
