A baby was found floating in the a pool in Ward End Park, Birmingham.
The police said that they had made extensive enquiries but had not been able to come to any opinion about the parentage of the child.
The pathologist said that it was impossible to say whether the child had been born alive or stillborn.
He said that there was no evidence of strangulation and that he didn't think that a piece of cloth that had been taken from the neck of the child had been used to strangle it, but to help weight the child's body down in the water. He said that he thought that the child had been in the pool for about a week.
