John Cooper and Sharon Cooper died after being hit by a car on the A76 in May 2017.

A 73-year-old man was tried for causing their deaths by careless driving but a verdict of not proven was returned.

They had been riding along the A76 near Sanquhar on their motorcycle whilst attending a Harley Davidson rally in Perth and had been heading off on a return trip to Culzean Castle when the 73-year-old man hit them.

The 73-year-old man had been driving back from a youth football tournament in Ayr with his family in his Land Rover at the time and said that he heard a bang and then lost control and crossed the road onto the verge and hit a tree.
