Desmond Oliver was stabbed to death a few days after being released from jail for armed robbery on 24 July 1986.
He was stabbed outside the Pig and Whistle public house near the Lancaster West Estate in Shepherds Bush.
A 23-year-old man was tried for his murder but acquitted.
