Michael Collins

Age: 37

Sex: male

Date: 25 Aug 1986

Place: Moonlights Club, Broadway, Stratford

Michael Collins was stabbed at a nightclub on 25 August 1986.

He was attacked at the Moonlights Club in Broadway, Stratford, by several people who blinded him with ammonia spray, beat him with a cosh and stabbed him in the legs and buttocks.

It was reported that he had been both attacked in and outside the club.

It was said that four men had burst into the premises whilst Michael Collins had been drinking with a friend and sprayed him with ammonia before stabbing him repeatedly.

Several people were tried for his murder but were acquitted.

One of the men initially charged had been a former manager of Steven's Fish bar in Annesley Road, but the charges against him were dropped in December 1986.

The police said that they could have been trying to put the frighteners on him as Michael Collins was a gang boss.

His murder was linked to the murder of Peter Morris who was killed outside The Telegraph Pub in Church Street, Stratford on Saturday 30 August 1986.
