Gerald Hoarau was shot outside his house in Green Court Avenue, Edgeware on 25 November 1985.
He was said to have been assassinated.
He was an exiled political leader from the Seychelles.
His inquest heard that he had wanted to end the Marxist regime in the Seychelles and that he had been gunned down in:
A detective with Scotland Yard's anti-terrorist branch said that the murder of Gerald Hoarau was the work of a professional assassin.
The Coroner recorded a verdict of unlawful killing.
A number of people were arrested in connection with his murder but no-one was charged although three people were convicted in 1986 for perverting the course of justice.
A man was arrested on 2 August 2018 in Antrim, Northern Ireland on suspicion of conspiracy to murder but nothing more is known.
