James Miller went missing three days before Christmas on Tuesday 22 December 2020.
He was last seen in CCTV at about 11pm.
He had been a mechanic and had lived in Slater Street, Latchford.
He had gone missing during the Covid lockdown.
He had been a key worker and so had continued to work which was said to have affected his mental health.
His sister said that at about 10.30pm on 22 December 2020 their mother had said to him, 'Come on James, turn your music off. You’ve got work in the morning and I’ve got work in the morning, time for bed. She left the room and heard the music go off and thought he had gone to bed. Then she heard the front door go and looked out of the window and saw James walking off to the right down Slater Street. He had not been in touch with anyone, he hadn’t taken his phone and then hadn’t turned up to work. That is when the alarm bells went off in my head. I have posted all the way up to Scotland down to Cornwall. You feel numb, and I have for nearly three years. You’re living in a surreal world, but we still every day think of James, talk of James and keep that message of James out there'.
A CCTV image of him was later released.
The police said, 'As you can see from the CCTV, James leaves his home address and walks along Slater Street. We are keeping an open mind as to what happened after that. Following the investigation, we conducted extensive searches in the local area, which included a search of the River Mersey and Victoria Park. This involved the use of the police helicopter, police drone and specially trained search officers. Unfortunately, we did not find anything that could assist with the investigation. James left his mobile telephone at home, but did take his wallet with him, however there has been no activity on his bank since. We have had several reported sightings since then, both in Warrington and further afield in the likes of Liverpool and Manchester, and each report has been investigated, but we have not had any confirmed sightings of him'.
