The body of a newly-born female child was found in a cardboard box in the front garden of an empty house in Leyton.
On the box were written the words 'Steward' and Leytonstone'. The box was later identified by a man that remembered selling a pair of lady's shoes in the box, however, he said that he could not remember when or to whom.
A doctor that examined the child's body said that it had been dead for about a month. He said that there was a bruise on the right side of the face and forehead and that death was due to neglect and want of attention at birth.
The jury returned a verdict of Found Dead.
