The body of a 6-month-old child was found in an open portmanteau on the Canal Bank at Warrington Place in the early hours of Friday 23 October 1903.
The child's body was wrapped up in an old woollen singlet.
The doctor that carried out the post mortem said that there were no marks of violence on the body which he said was in an extremely emaciated condition and that he thought that death was due to the poor condition of the body.
