Ashley McGurk

Ashley McGurk was near Harpurhey shopping precinct in Manchester on 24 December 2011 and died ten years later on 8 January 2021 from his injuries.

A pathologist confirmed that the attack had been the cause of his death.

Three men were initially arrested in relation to his murder and two were released with no action further action to be taken and the third charge in relation to the attack but the case was dismissed by the court.

Ashley McGurk had been walking back from a party at the time when he was attacked. The attacked was described as unprovoked and had left him brain damaged. Following the assault he was left in a coma for several months after which he had to lived in a care home in Rochdale.

He had been 32 years old at the time of the attack.

He had been known locally as Ashley Thomas.
