William Bradley was found dead in the canal locks at Langley Mill on Wednesday 26 November 1902.

When he was found his silver watch was missing.

He had lived in Old Brinsley. His widow said that he had left home on the Saturday afternoon to transact club business at Ilkeston but failed to return.

It was later heard that he had been seen drinking near Langley Mill and to have been in an intoxicated condition near the canal locks where his body was afterwards found.

When he was last seen he had been in the company of an unknown person.

The police said that they were making enquiries to trace the unknown person as well as his missing silver watch.

An open verdict of Found drowned was returned.
