Stuart Horsman died in hospital a week after he was assaulted.
He was taken ill at Winchester Railway Station on Wednesday 3 August 2011 and taken to the Royal Hampshire County Hospital where he died later the same day.
He died from internal bleeding.
Two men were arrested soon after in connection with his murder but released and the murder case was later dropped.
It was thought that he had been assaulted sometime between Monday 25 July and Wednesday 3 August 2011.
He was said to have been well known in the Winchester area and to have been regularly seen with friends in the underpass that ran from the taxi rank outside the station, underneath the railway itself, and out into Stockbridge Road.
It was noted that his brother had been found dead in April 2009 at the Brooks Shopping Centre in Middle Brook Street after having taken an overdose of heroin and alcohol.
