The body of a newly-born child was found on the beach at Skegness.
It was found at about 8am on Thursday 29 September 1911 by two ladies at the water's edge between the pier and the helter-skelter.
Some women's clothing was also found high and dry on the sand.
The child's body had been wrapped up in a blanket when it was found and it was thought that the bundle had been washed up by the tide.
It was understood that an examination showed that the child's throat had been injured.
