The body of a newly-born child was found in the Regents Canal near Grove Road, Marylebone.
The body was found by a towpath-man that had lived in Hall Place, Paddington, in the water at a spot near Grove Road.
It was wrapped up in a piece of calico.
The pathologist said that the child's body appeared to have been in the canal for about 17 days and that he was of the opinion that death was due to inattention at birth.
An open verdict was returned at the inquest at Marylebone.
