Charles Edward Hawkins was found dead in Bow Creek, Poplar.
An open verdict at his inquest was returned.
It was noted that a curious feature in connection with his death was that he had first disappeared from his lodgings at a mission, but that he had returned after the matter had been reported to the police. However, he was to then disappear again, only to be later found dead in the river.
It was noted that he had been out of work for about twelve months.
He had been a seaman.
