The body of a newly-born male child was found by a policeman in Hampstead Green on the morning of 1 January 1904.
It had been wrapped in two pieces of brown paper and tied up with string.
The body was afterwards taken to Hampstead Police Station where it was examined by the police divisional surgeon, who stated that the child had been dead for about a week. However, he said that he could not certify as to its cause of death and an inquest was arranged, but the details are not known.
