Annie Glaney

Annie Glaney died from head injuries.

A seaman was tried for her murder but acquitted.

It was heard that Annie Glaney had been an alcoholic and had been assaulted twice earlier on in the evening that she died by two women in separate instances.

The seaman was said to have assaulted her in the Trongate by kicking her.

The seaman denied killing her. However, a special defence was also set up that Annie Glaney had first been assaulted by a woman in Wilson Street and then secondly by two women at 14 Quay.

She died from a fractured skull and haemorrhage on the brain.

The court heard that a lot of whisky had been consumed and that it had more or less been a drunken orgy on the previous night, and that Annie Glaney was very much addicted to drink.
