The partial skeletal remains of a man were found on 17 April 1990 in a woodland in Deepdene, Dorking.

They were found after some trees were brought down during gale force winds but were thought to have possibly been there for about ten years.

The man was thought to have been between 50 and 65 years of age, between 165 to 172cm tall and to have been of medium build.

His remains were dressed in a brown single-breasted jacket with double vents at the back, a beige v-neck Fawn woollen jumper, brown lace-up size 8 PVC shoes and Herringbone slacks with 'n hamilton lytt 25.3.75' written in the pocket. The Herringbone slacks had a 42-inch waist and 31 inch inside leg. He had also been wearing a brown shirt and had a watch on with a white 1.5 inch face that only had an hour hand on it.

Other items on him included:

  • Yellow metal case with a stainless-steel back.
  • Tobacco tin with tobacco and matches.
  • Brown leather fold-over wallet.
  • Two keys on a spilt-ring fob with a circular Double Diamond emblem on it.
  • 53 pence in coins, some of which dated 1967 and 1975.
