Dolores Garcia Vasquez

Age: 30

Sex: female

Date: 16 Nov 1962

Place: Radnor Walk, Chelsea, London

Dolores Garcia Vasquez died from an abortion.

However, it was not possible to say whether it was self-induced or had been brought about by some other person.

She had been a domestic servant at a property in Radnor Walk, Chelsea where she had worked for the previous 16 months.

An open verdict was returned at her inquest, with the Coroner stating that there was insufficient evidence as to the circumstances.

She was admitted to St George's Hospital on 16 November 1962 after complaining of severe abdominal pains and was found to be 20 week's pregnant, however, the hospital were unable to diagnose the exact trouble. She was found to have had some signs of an infection and was treated for that but she died 2½ hours later.

She had denied any interference by instrument.

The doctor that carried out her post mortem gave her cause of death as peritonitis due to septic abortion.

It was heard that the presence of some infection did suggest that interference took place, and that that was a strong possibility, but there was no direct evidence.

A police detective said that he had made exhaustive inquiries as to whether or not there had been a self-induced abortion or one caused by some other person, but had been unable to find out.

An open verdict was returned.
