The body of a newly-born male baby was found in the Wyrley and Essington Canal at Rough Wood Country Park in Willenhall.
The police said that they were treating it as a case of murder.
The body was spotted by a care-worker that was passing by at about 1pm on Thursday, 20 May 2021 not far from Bentley Wharf Bridge.
It was thought that the child could have been in the water for about four days.
It was said that the child had been full term and to have died either during birth or shortly after.
The police took DNA evidence frm the child's body. It was later reported that DNA was compared to evidence found on a card and flowers left at the scene in February 2022.
