Age: 27

Sex: male

Date: 19 Oct 2021

Place: River Thames

Mohammed Mussa was found dead in the River Thames near Hammersmith Bridge.

When his body was recovered it was found that he had suffered from blunt force.

His inquest heard that before he went into the river that he had been involved in a row with a group of men and that there had then been unusual activity on his bank account.

Mohammed Mussa was reported missing by his partner on 17 October 2021. His body was found in the river on 19 October by some people out rowing.

He had been a Dutch national and had been living in London at the time.

He was last seen walking alone at 4.02am on 17 October 2021 after leaving the Le Fez nightclub in Putney, wearing a navy trench coat, light blue shirt, dark trousers and canvas trainers.

The police said:

Our last sighting of Mohamed is of him walking past Simmons bar on Putney High Street towards Putney Bridge at 5.29am on Sunday October 17. We are confident he did not turn left down Lower Richmond Road or cross over the road towards the church and cinema, but are not clear on his next steps and we are now asking for the public's help in trying to ascertain exactly what happened. Were you on or heading towards Putney Bridge at around 5.30am that morning or driving on Putney High Street at a similar time? Please check any dashcam footage in case you captured anything that could help with our investigation and get in touch with us as soon as possible.

He had lived in Wandsworth.

However, it was noted that at some point after leaving the club that he had been in the company of another man.

After being found in the river a lifeboat crew transported his body to Chiswick Pier.

His inquest heard:

There was lots of blood coming from the back of his head that was going into the river. There were scratch marks on the neck. He was known to have had an altercation with some males. There was some unusual activity on his bank account.

It was also heard that he had blunt force injuries to the back of the head and bruising to the larynx.

However, his post mortem examination failed to find a conclusive cause of death, although it was heard that his lungs were swelled with water.
