Ian Barrell died after falling into the River Parrett at Bridgwater.

He had escaped from his garden and crossed a road and vanished. His body was found two weeks later.

A 10-year-old boy later admitted to having chased Ian Barrell away after he started following him and that he fell into the river and vanished.

However, the Coroner stated that it was not certain precisely how Ian Barrell came to fall into the river and an open verdict was returned.
