Hubert Kacperek died from a stab wound at his home and his shared house in Liverpool Road, Eccles.
Following his death the police launched a murder enquiry and arrested two men, but no one was charged.
His inquest heard that he fell on his own knife during a struggle with his flatmate on 12 April 2021.
Hubert Kacperek had been living in an 8 bedroom property at the time that use used by a number of people from different countries.
His flatmate said that Hubert Kacperek had been holding a knife when they had a 'coming together' and that as he came at him he twisted his hand and pushed him away and Hubert Kacperek then fell, stabbing himself in the chest.
His flatmate said that he then tried CPR on Hubert Kacperek and then called the emergency services.
The pathologist said that Hubert Kacperek had been stabbed in the left armpit, resulting in the knife piercing his lung and causing it to collapse. He added that there were no signs that Hubert Kacperek had been in a fight.

However, two of Hubert Kacperek's friends from Poland who attended the inquest on behalf of his family said that the doubted the flatmates account of Hubert Kacperek having been holding the knife.
A cleaner said that she had seen two men chasing each other whilst she had been cleaning in one of the two kitchens in the property. She said that one of the men was black, and the other white. She said that she didn't know much about them or what they were saying as she had been focussed on her work. However, she add:
Hubert Kacperek had had a child, but after his relationship ended, he moved to the UK.
