Blair Gault was killed on a railway line in Livingston on Tuesday, 16 November 2021.

He was struck about the head and body with a knife on a footpath between Fintry Avenue and Buchanan Crescent and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The police said he had been subjected to a sustained and violent attack.

Four people were charged but two women were acquitted and a not proven verdict was returned against two men.

The people were:

  1. Woman in 50s.
  2. Woman in 50s.
  3. 36-year-old man.
  4. 53-year-old man.

The attack took place in the Deans area of Livingston. He was found at about 3am and the police said that he had been around the Fintry Avenue and Buchanan Crescent area at about 2.30am and appealed for anyone that heard anything to come forward.

It was claimed that the people on trial had cahsed him into the passage way.

At the time of his murder he had been facing trial over domestic abuse charges involving his ex-partner and had been yards from her home. He had due in court in January 2022 accused of shouting and swearing at her home. He had been bailed on the condition he would not enter or approach her home and the police said they trying to piece together his final mo­­ments and who he was with.

he had been arrested at her home in August 2021 after going to her home and banging and shouting at her door. A man then came out and told him to leave it alone as she wasn't in and it was alleged that he threatened to kill the man, but the neighbour got him in a headlock and the police were called. He was cahrged with behaving in a threatening or abusive manner and uttering derogatory remarks at his ex-partner.
