A man was said to have been killed at a fox covert at Hartshorn in Ashby-de-la-Zouch in 1916.
The police were alerted to the claim in 1924 after a letter was recieved from Canada saying that there had been a murder there, and instructing them on where to look.
The letter also reffered to a second victim being disposed of in 'some water' in the same district.
