Ahmet Abdullah was shot in a betting shop in Walworth.
It was said that his murder was a gangland hit and that he had belonged to a feared and violent family.
Several people were tried but acquitted.
It was said that five months later, when Stanley Silk and David Brindle were shot dead in the Bell Pub in East Street, Walworth, one of the killers had shouted out, 'This is for Abbi', before firing.
Ahmet Abdullah was known as Turkish Abbi. He was also referred to as Ahmed Abdullah.
He had lived in Bagshot Street, Walworth.
The betting shop, thought to have been the William Hill on the corner, is now a restaurant.
