Age: 0

Sex: male

Date: 12 Jul 1963

Place: Regents Canal, Regents Park, London

The body of a baby was found in the Regent's Canal at Regent's Park with a nylon stocking tied round its neck.

A nylon stocking had been twisted four times round the baby's neck and tied with a knot.

It was thought that the child had been born alive and had breathed.

The Coroner said:

We have been unable to ascertain the cause of death as the baby had been in the canal some seven days when it was discovered.

An open verdict was returned.
