The body of a newly-born female child was found wrapped up in a potato sack in the gutter in King Street, Plymouth, on the morning of 4 February 1924.
It was found by a police constable in the lane at the rear of King Street. He said that there was some women's underclothing round the child's head.

He said that upon observing the sacking in the gutter, that he turned it over and found the body of the child.
