The body of an unknown female child was found in Warbreck Hill Road, Blackpool on Sunday 6 July 1924.

It was found by a street sweeper at the edge of a pit off Warbreck Hill Road. He said that his dog had commenced to bark and had then run off towards the pit and that when he followed it, he found the body of the child in an advanced state of decomposition, wrapped up in a newspaper.

A police sergeant that was called out said that the child must have been lying in the spot for a considerable time.
