Beatrice Boffey

Age: 80

Sex: female

Date: 24 Jul 1986

Place: Moseley, Birmingham

Beatrice Boffey died in hospital seven weeks after being assaulted by an intruder in her detached home in Moseley.

The police said that they knew who assaulted her but that it was unlikely that he would be convicted due to the state of her health otherwise at the time.

The man had broken into her home and punched her in the face, dragged her downstairs and threatened her with a knife after she confronted him in her home.

A detective said:

There is little doubt that the injuries she received and the trauma she faced took their toll. But it is very doubtful we will ever be in the position to prove a murder because of the state of Mrs Boffrey's health.

It was noted that she had been suffering from a series of ailments including heart and kidney complaints at the time, and had been a very sick woman.
