Tina Marie Fletcher

Age: 19

Sex: female

Date: 27 Dec 1986

Place: Heague Row, Park Hill Flats, Sheffield

Tina Marie Fletcher was found dead in her council flat at Heague Row, Park Hill Flats, Sheffield, on Saturday 27 December 1986.

Her body was found by her father.

It was thought her throat had been cut.

She was found dead in her sitting room. Her two children, aged 1 and 2, were upstairs in their bedroom, unaware that their mother had been murdered.

The police appealed for anyone that might have met her over the holiday period to come forward.

It was thought she had been murdered in the early hours of the Saturday after possibly attending a party.

The police said:

The circumstances of the killing are unusual. It was a complicated matter and only we and the killer know just what happened, and perhaps this will help us to trap him. It was a particularly brutal killing and we feel we have good cause for not revealing precise details.

A man was said to have bene helping the police with their enquiries, but no charges were made and nothing more is known about the case.

The police said they had ruled out theft as a motive, but said they were not going to reveal the cause of death.

The police said:

There had been a struggle. Both children were in the bedroom which had a child lock on the outside. Both were fine.

Tina Fletcher had lived alone at the flat with her two children. She had been unmarried.
