A 21-year-old man was tried at Manchester Crown Court but acquitted. Another man said to have been involved was never caught.
It was claimed that he had been shot in revenge after having taken the 21-year-old man's car. However, it was heard that in doing so they had been abusive towards Vincent Clay's 17-year-old girlfriend which led to a dispute between the men and Vincent Clay, and violence.
