The car, an X-reg silver BMW, driven by a woman at the time, then crashed into a tree, but the woman was not badly hurt.
George Lynch had had six children, and had just dropped off his 13-year-old son at a friend's house on Carmoor Road.
The police said that they thought that it had been something he had done that day that resulted in him being murdered.
