Michelle McKnight was stabbed in the garden of her home in Prior Road, Tweedmouth.
She was found in the small hours of Sunday morning and taken to Ashington Hospital where she died the same day.
Michelle McKnight was last seen when she got out of a taxi at 2.30am on the Sunday morning.
Her 20-year-old boyfriend was tried for her murder but found not guilty.
He had been living with her at her home for the previous six months but had split up with her a week before the murder.
It was claimed that he had killed her after finding out that she had had sex with a man in franklin Prison, a top security unit. She was said to have been having an affair with the man and it was alleged he had killed her after he found out.
